WINDSURFING magazine will be suspending publication

PostPosted: 22 Dec 2011 18:53    Post subject: WINDSURFING magazine to suspend publication Reply with quote

Hey everyone,

Word is getting around, and I wanted to be the one to tell the iWindsurf community.

WINDSURFING magazine will be suspending publication for the upcoming year.

There's still quite a few details I'm not sure about, and our team is still quite a bit in shock.

I'm sure there will be a press release next week. We've spent this week telling our advertisers and contributors. (Sorry if we haven't gotten to all of you yet - there's a lot!)

It's been a great run. We are part of an amazing community, that I'm sure will continue, even without the magazine. Windsurfing will always be the most incredible sport in my world, and, I'm sure, yours too.

I'm not sure what the future holds for me yet, but I will continue to be a member of this community, and continue to be on the water with you guys.

I'm off to the mountain for some decompression and get my mind off the thing. Will check back later.

All the best in the wind,

Josh Sampiero

JUST FOUND THIS ON THE QUEBEC FORUM....Save a spot on the Rocks Champlain!

Topic: Save a spot on the Rocks Champlain!
Posted by: on 23/07 7:45 Bgood Message: No matter if you floor or not, help us to maintain a single access for windsurfing on Lake Champlain in Vermont. Major work of rock have been botched during the floods of spring and you risk losing a jewel for our sport. Sign the petition at the link below please. Thank http://www.petitiononlinecanada.com/petition/rocky- beach-aux-roches/241 I have just voted and the process is long. You must register to the website, then confirm registration by email that we receive and then we can sign the petition. But please do it anyway, it only takes 3 minutes to help save an invaluable access for windsurfing. Again thank you!

.SPECIAL LAKE CHAMPLAIN WEATHER DISCUSSION...
AS OF 345 AM EDT THURSDAY...WINDS WILL BECOME A MAJOR FACTOR ON LAKE
CHAMPLAIN TODAY AND A LAKE WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT. SOUTH WINDS
WILL INCREASE INTO THE 20 TO 30 KNOT RANGE THIS MORNING WITH WAVES
BUILDING INTO THE 3 TO 5 FOOT RANGE. SEICHE EFFECTS FROM THE WIND
WILL CAUSE THE LAKE LEVEL TO RISE TO NEAR 102.7 FEET ACROSS THE
NORTHERN HALF OF THE LAKE THURSDAY...WITH SOME EROSION TO SOUTH
FACING SHORELINES. WINDS WILL SUBSIDE SOME BY LATE AFTN /15-25
KNOTS/...THEN BECOME NORTH THIS EVENING INTO THURSDAY NIGHT WITH
PASSAGE OF A COLD FRONT FROM NORTH TO SOUTH ACROSS LAKE CHAMPLAIN.
NORTH WINDS AROUND 10 KNOTS ARE EXPECTED FOR FRIDAY.

FOR BOATERS MANY HAZARDS STILL EXIST. BREAKWATER AND OTHER ROCKS
OR OBSTRUCTIONS TO NAVIGATION MAY BE OBSCURED BY THE HIGH WATER
LEVELS ON THE LAKE. IN ADDITION...PLENTY OF DEBRIS REMAIN IN THE
LAKE...ESPECIALLY NEAR RIVER MOUTHS. LASTLY...THE NEAR-SHORE LAKE
TEMPERATURES HAVE ONLY WARMED TO AROUND 50 DEGREES...WHICH COULD
LEAD TO POTENTIAL HYPOTHERMIC CONDITIONS IF ONE WERE TO FALL INTO
THE WATER. DUE TO THE ABOVE FACTORS...RECREATIONAL BOATING IS
DISCOURAGED AT THIS TIME.

NBC Sports WILL be coming to Sunapee on this coming Saturday 08 January 2011!

Folks

It is official Harry Cicma from NBC Sports WILL be coming to Sunapee on this coming Saturday 08 January 2011!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuG3mNr-vuc&NR=1&feature=fvwp

It was not easy to convince him to come. He wanted us to go to Bantam Lake CT, but after much cajoling by Dan Hill [the new NA distributor for kitewing] he plans to drive up on Saturday and be shooting by mid day. He will spend Saturday night, and leave Sunday.

Dan is flying in from Michigan and bringing a new Kitewing 4.0CE [described by kitewing design engineer Carl Magnus Fogelholm as his "best design yet"]. Dan will stay until Tuesday & try to do some skiing at Mt Sunapee on Monday.

This is a rare opportunity to be on national TV. If you have time to come to our usual sailing spot on Saturday, please do it! More wings and kites will make a better backdrop for filming.

I will bring some Conanicut Island grass fed organic knockwursts, kielbassa and frankfurters. I might have to get a new grill.

Anyone coming is invited to bring stuff to eat & drink. We want to welcome these guys and reward them for making such a long trip!

See you Saturday [I hope]

A Great White Christmas on Cape Cod

On December 18, 2010, I heard a report that a boat encountered a very large great white shark (reportedly 20+ ft. long) that was entangled in fishing gear a few miles off the Chatham, Massachusetts coast.
