Lake Champlain search for windsurfer a false alarm

Lake Champlain search for windsurfer a false alarm

Posted: May 15, 2013 5:23 PM EDT Updated: May 15, 2013 6:01 PM EDT
BURLINGTON, Vt. - A search for a windsurfer on Lake Champlain ended in a false alarm.
Just before noon, the Coast Guard was dispatched to the waters off Apple Tree Point in Burlington.
A homeowner reported a windsurfer in distress, but rescue crews found nothing in the water or on the shoreline.
The search was suspended after nearly 2.5 hours.
The Coast Guard says it's likely the windsurfer got back up on his board and returned to shore.

HATTERAS VACATION 2013

Sunny and warm but pretty windless week (4-13-13 thru 4-20-13).. sailed one day 4-19-13...4.8 sail on an 85ltr board from noon to 4:30. Had a great time with my girlfriend and my kids.I always wondered what they did when I went windsurfing years past. the day just slip away hanging out.

Lake Champlain is open for business. FOR THE CRAZY CANADIANS From Canadaian Windsurfing Facebook page;

APRIL 7, 2013 Its not often you get sandstormed at the beach but when you do... its bloody windy. 3.7 -4.7 but it felt nuclear. Fun to feel breaking waves again and the cold water seemed to give them a little more punch. I started out with my light gloves and froze the hell out of my fingers within minutes. 20 minutes later I was at the car having a screaming session as the fingers thawed out (forgot what that felt like). Got some good gloves on and did another hour or so up near the reef with the boys but I was really over on the 4.7. I need to start thinking like a small guy now that I lost some pounds :-)

Mascoma Lake Windsurfing site

Looks like the pull-off along RTE.4A on Mascoma Lake is gone. New guardrails have been put in and no place to rig. I thought this was a public fishing access! Can someone check into this. Brian

Snowboarding with a Snow Kite "Snowkiting"

The snowboard made for windsurfing

Snowboards are in the center of... water sports. It might sound strange, but the mountain is really meeting the beach. After the construction of the surfboad made for snowboarding, which was successfully tested by Rob Machado, it's time for another gear innovation.
The snowboard made for windsurfing has been invented. Krisjanis Tutans, Hot Sails Maui Latvian team rider, converted a snowboard for ice windsurfing.

"When wintertime comes, we have to think about different expressions of windsurfing. And one of them is snow surf, as we call it here in Latvia. Actually it's possible to do a lot of crazy things with it, mostly freestyle", tells Krish.
"It's also possible to build a kicker and jump. Forward loop is the first one which we have tried, but there is a thought also about Pushloop", he adds.
But how did he do this innovative blend between snowboarding and windsurfing? First of all, it's important to attach the windsurfing sail to the snowboard without damaging it.
Krisjanis Tutans used a 16mm plywood plank, a mast base on the top of the mini-board and Chinook screws. A small 40x20cm board weighs only 748 grams and easily be attached to the snowboard.
The result was extraordinary. Krisjanis Tutans may have created a new use for windsurfing sails. Will Hot Sails Maui be marketing it?
