BURLINGTON, Vt. -
A search for a windsurfer on Lake
Champlain ended in a false alarm.
Just before noon, the Coast Guard was dispatched to the waters off Apple Tree Point in Burlington.
A homeowner reported a windsurfer in distress, but rescue crews found nothing in the water or on the shoreline.
The search was suspended after nearly 2.5 hours.
The Coast Guard says it's likely the windsurfer got back up on his board and returned to shore.
